Lekkerwerken on tour in the Netherlands

On November 8th the conference »Technology + Creativity = Business« was held at the University of Technology in Delft. Lekkerwerken was asked by the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Berlin to give a presentation about our creative work within the conference workshop programme.

Technology + Creativity = Business
The biannual conference is a meeting place for international contacts invited by the respective counsellors within the so-called TWA network (network of the technical and scientific attachés). The audience and the speakers were international, the conference language was English – for us an interesting challenge to look beyond our own noses and to look at the developments of the creative industry in a European and international context.

Among other speakers from Germany, like Angela Knewitz from MetaDesign, Walter Heidenfels from Teams Design and Joachim Sauter from Art+Com, also well-known names from abroad, like Frog Design from the USA, Fabrique from Holland and France Telecom, were represented.

Content + Emotion = Communication
The conference attendees talked a lot about business, markets and business models. Our presentation focussed on the emotional communication of contents in order to create a communicative basis for business. Under the motto »Emotions open the door for communication to find its way to the brain« we presented edutainment applications like nano-journeys, which illustrate complex subjects through play and entertainment and facilitate hands-on experience – a principle that can be applied to the most various products and services.

Lekkerwerken on the road

There is a proverb saying »God created the World and the Dutch created the Netherlands« – many Dutch people live on artificially created land wrested from the sea. In a correspondingly laid-back way, the »artificial« is dealt with in the various design disciplines. Old and young elements are combined and used for other than their original or intended purposes …

TWA Network field trip to Amsterdam

After the end of the conference the speakers were invited to subject-oriented field trips to Eindhoven, Amsterdam or Rotterdam by the respective counsellors in order to get in contact with interested enterprises from the areas of interior design / industrial design, graphic / multimedia design or architecture. Lekkerwerken went to Amsterdam, where we got to know the Waag Society and the Premsela Foundation.

Visit of DeDato, Amsterdam

We concluded our three-day stay in the Netherlands with visits to the editorial office of the new FabChannel in the famous Paradiso and the design agency DeDato and many interesting discussions. Conclusion: once in a while look what your (global) neighbours are doing – it’s worth it!
