»Werking« with a european mission
In order to promote an integrated, secure, responsible, and socially acceptable development of nano sciences and nano technology, the European Commission has worked out a framework and taken various measures.
One of these measures is the development of suitable communication strategies to promote commitment and a dialogue on »nano« issues in society.
After a first introductory workshop involving an assessment of the status quo in February 2007, the Commission held a second workshop on »Communication Outreach in Nanotechnology: From recommendations to action« in Brussels on 24th and 25th October, 2007.
Together with about 20 international experts from the areas of science, media, art and design, Lekkerwerken was invited to specify the results of the first workshop and to define target groups, contents and the manner of communication from a European »bird’s eye view« to achieve the above-mentioned goals in the long term.
The results will be published in a report and will serve the European Commission as a framework for future activities in nano technology and nano sciences:
