The alien I-KU – the congenial ambassador for all creators of ideas of the future – is learning how to dance! In a music video clip made for children, I-KU is performing an easy-to-learn dance meant to encourage the visitors of the ThyssenKrupp website »Discovering future technology« and the Ideas Park 2006 in Hanover to join in.
Implementation of an entertaining 3D dance video suitable for children based on a given piece of music and choreography. Objective: a flowing movement of the character and provision of the finished clip in different formats.
In order to grant a natural movement of the I-KU figure, the choreography was danced by a real performer and recorded live with the MotionCapturing method. In a second step, the dancer was replaced by the 3D character and reworked. After that, the »synapsis« swinging on its head, its fingers and eyes were manually animated. This was followed by adding the animated background, the video editing, zooms and camera movements as well as various special effects.
start the I-KU-Dance
The I-KU dance video was performed twice per day during the ThyssenKrupp Ideas Park (20th to 28th May, 2006) in Hanover: I-KU and a dance instructor rehearsed the dance with the visiting children.
