The state of Rhineland-Palatinate has a long tradition of migration since the first migrant labourers had been recruited around sixty years ago.
Taking this into account we have developed the virtual online museum »Lebenswege« (paths of life) together with the history marketing specialist hpunkt kommunikation. The project was commissioned by the Ministry of Labour, Social Welfare, Health, Family and Women of Rhineland-Palatinate.
The virtual museum informs about the history and culture of migration in Germany respectively in Rhineland-Palatinate from 1955.
Like the historical developments the museum is to be conceived as a vivid and ever changing process: the online portal will be expanded in content and service.
In order to make the concept of a virtual museum space comprehensible we have developed and visualized the shape of a building that expresses the concept of the project: the »pathes of life« intersect with each other within this building and there is space for exhibitions, information and personal encounters.
In this venue migrants tell their story – they allow a close insight into their personal »path of life« in text passages, interview sequences and photographic documents of time.
